We have been visiting this restaurant for a long time, in fact since they moved from petersfield to ye olde George Inn. We love this place! We have since moved to Oxford but still find time to drop in for arguably the best food, best atmosphere and nicest people!

We were staying in the area, so as it was my husbands birthday and having read such great reviews, we thought we'd give it a try. The decor was lovely, as were the staff. We arrived approx 45 minutes before the kitchen closed. Which might explain why our meal wasn't as good as the reviews stated. Everything tasted and felt like it had been kept for hours in a warmer. The roasted potatoes were so hard that they were inedible. The vegetables were cold. One carrot sliced in half does not equate to a portion of veg. I feel we would have been better off going to a fast food chain. To add to that, it was cold where we sat, with no heating.

South did in an idyllic location. The thickness of the reservations book is a testament to this place's popularity. The beer-battered haddock, with triple cooked chips and minted peas was perfectly cooked. Steak and ale pie was filled to the brim with a rich filling and boasted a fantastic pastry with delicious horseradish mash. It's just getting to that time of year when the fire is set to burn constantly in the corner; had that been on I'd have had great difficulty leaving. Walkability: Walked from the sustainability centre, a 10k round trip.

Great service and atmosphere. Lovely old pub with great food to match. We had the Sunday roast and we weren't disappointed.

We had a fantastic evening meal here last night. The staff are very friendly, and we were really impressed with the food - especially the sourdough bread and the sticky toffee pudding. Good choice of main meals. My partner is vegetarian and said that his main was superb. Excellent wine as well.

The food was devine, and I had the steak. It was a little pricey at £29 but it was cooked to perfection. The cauliflower cheese dish was lovely. Generous portions. Friendly staff. Nice clean country pub.

A most pleasurable meal in sad circumstances, as we had just attended a burial service at Sustainability and needed an uplift. Good service and very tasty meal catering for all tastes. An ideal spot at which to share reminisces of a very old friend and colleague.

Had a lovely lunch here. Staff were really friendly and food was great. Sat outside in the sun with our dog after a nice walk in Winchester Will return

Nice pub in the beautiful village of East Meon. We came for Sunday lunch which was good with plenty of meat (lamb and beef both delicious and well cooked). Our only criticisms are that the roast potatoes were a bit hard, and gravy jugs with handles are essential (I tried to pick mine up five times to pour it, but it was too hot to hold). The staff were polite and friendly (and resolved the gravy jug issue quickly). Puds were also good - my creme brulee was excellent! I'd recommend Ye Olde George Inn.

Fantastic food at the pub served with a smile. Tasty English countryside burger with applewood cheese and bacon, and really good smoked duck salad with figs, watercress and a sprinkling of hazelnuts. The sides: fries were crispy with skin on, and the charred cabbage tender and very delicious. Highly recommend!
